EUKANUBA PRODUCT : Eukanuba Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retrievers are an extremely popular choice of dog; they are both gentle and affectionate. If they do not exercise regularly they can gain weight easily and excess weight can put stress on their joints meaning they can benefit from extra nutritional care.

Eukanuba Labrador Retriever is a complete and balanced daily food designed to keep the joints healthy and help to control their weight for overall good health.

Eukanuba Labrador Retriever is made with:

  1. Cartilage nutrient for healthy joints
  2. L-Carnitine for optimal weight
  3. Omega-3 and Omega-6, zinc and copper for optimal skin and coat care
  4. Vitamin E to support the immune system

Also suitable for Curly coated and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, who share the same nutritional needs.

BREED NUTRITION

BREED NUTRITION

Breed nutrition

At Eukanuba we constantly strive to deliver nutritional innovations whatever your dog’s size, age, weight or even breed as we recognize that nutrition plays a vital role in your dog’s well-being.

Research by Eukanuba has led to the development of the breed specific line up with nutritional values specifically formulated to meet the particular needs of different breeds. Based on years of nutritional knowledge and research, these diets have the potential to help bring out the true magnificence of your dog.

Also for a breed such as the Labrador Retriever, where the luxurious protective coat, friendly outgoing nature and hard working ability are defining characteristics of the breed, how you nourish him can make a difference to his life.

Creating an optimal nutrition for your Labrador Retriever is Eukanuba’s mission and our premium ingredients and formula are designed to do just that. Eukanuba believes dogs are best fed as their ancestors – as carnivores – and therefore the proteins we use are centred around high quality animal proteins from chicken, lamb and egg. Eukanuba Labrador Retriever is a customized blend of many components, a large part of which result from many years of research and provide benefits beyond the basic nutritional needs.

By choosing high quality nutrition, tailored to the specific needs of the breed, you can help him with his following special needs for:

  • Strong joints and weight control
  • Magnificent skin & coat
  • Good digestion & nutrient absorption
  • Robust immune system

HAPPY DOGS HAVE HEALTHY DIGESTION

HAPPY DOGS HAVE HEALTHY DIGESTION

Happy dogs have healthy digestion

The digestibility and the fibre components of your Labrador Retriever's diet is important to his gastrointestinal health and digestion. Highly digestible ingredients, such as high quality proteins from chicken, fish and egg decrease the likelihood that undigested nutrients are transported further down into the large bowel, where they can cause undesired flatulence and loose stools.

Fibre in the diet provides bulk and helps to move food through the intestines. Adding the right amount and type of fibre to your Labrador Retriever’s diet results in good stool quality and keeps the gut regular and healthy. Beet pulp is a natural fibre that provides bulk and can be broken down by gut bacteria.

Beet pulp is broken down by gut bacteria, producing rich substances (SCFAs) that provide energy for the intestinal cells, helping the digestive process.

STRONG JOINTS AND OPTIMAL WEIGHT FOR AN ACTIVE LIFE

STRONG JOINTS AND OPTIMAL WEIGHT FOR AN ACTIVE LIFE

Strong joints and optimal weight for an active life

Joints and cartilage of large active dogs, such as Labrador Retrievers, can benefit from special ingredients. Nutrients such as glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate are the building blocks of healthy cartilage.

Feeding a food with the correct balance of nutrients and energy can help ensure an appropriate level of calorific intake to keep your dog’s weight in check, reducing the impact of excessive weight on his joints.

L-carnitine helps convert fat into usable energy for tissues, such as those in the heart and liver and skeletal muscles. Preserving lean muscle mass in large, active dogs like Labrador Retrievers, helps support joints and enable a healthy, active lifestyle.

Joint nutrients, including glucosamine and chondroitin, can help replenish the nutritional reservoir that builds healthy cartilage, helping maintain free movement and active ability.

A STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEM

A STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEM

A strong immune system

Labrador Retrievers are built for the great outdoors. They have strength, agility, a beautiful symmetry when they move and a fantastic protective coat evertheless, as your dog explores and enjoys different environments he will be exposed to many different agents.

To deal effectively with these agents, your Labrador Retriever will depend on the strength of his immune system. But the quality of his diet and some special ingredients can help support his natural defences every day.

Peroxidation is a natural process that helps the body destroy cells that have outlived their usefulness. Left unchecked though, peroxidation can also destroy or damage healthy cells, such as immune cells. Antioxidants are typically found in fruits and vegetables and can help support your dog’s immune system against excessive peroxidation.

Your Labrador Retriever will benefit from a balanced premium nutrition
diet supplemented with important antioxidants, such as vitamin E,
to support his natural defences.

TAILORING INGREDIENTS FOR A UNIQUE COAT

TAILORING INGREDIENTS FOR A UNIQUE COAT

Tailoring ingredients for a unique coat

Despite their famously protective skin and coat, Labrador Retrievers can be susceptible to skin irritation, so they need a diet rich in essential nutrients, such as protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, especially zinc and copper, and fatty acids.

Because your dog’s coat is composed almost entirely of protein – some 95% – if his diet doesn’t contain enough quality protein, hair may fall out, or become dry, weak and brittle. 30-35% of your Labrador Retriever's daily protein intake is needed just to keep his coat and skin in good condition.

Each hair follicle has a sebaceous gland that produces vital oils and waxes that prevent dryness and help your Labrador Retriever retain his beautiful, water-repellent coat. The hair roots are deeply embedded in the skin, which when healthy is soft and pliable. Ingredients such as omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, encourage production of these oils and waxes and help enhance the overall condition of skin and coat by supporting tissue and membrane integrity.

Achieving an optimal balanced ratio of omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids between 5 and 10 omega 6 fatty acids to 1 omega 3 fatty acid (5:1 and 10:1) in your dog’s diet can help promote better coat quality in just eight weeks
